ABOUT ME

My name is Vera Novikova. I live in Irkutsk. I open the season in early November and ride at my homeplace in the Bolshoi Mamay River gorge until March. In April and May the off-peak snow season continues in the north of Lake Baikal and the Davan mountain pass. I love our nature and want to share the beauty of our mountains with you.

  • I will show avalanche hazardous slopes and tell you how to pass them correctly and safely.
  • I will advise you on the selection of high-quality equipment for active skiing in the mountains.

MAMAY

DAVAN

Mamay is a cult place for fans of extreme sports. The riding season lasts from November to March, in November the snow cover is 1-2 meters thick and by mid-winter it reaches up to 5 meters.

Mamay Mountain located in the southern part of Lake Baikal, in the area of the Khamar-Daban massif, is known far beyond the borders of Irkutsk region and the Republic of Buryatia.

This place is considered to be the most extreme and suitable for snowboarding, skiing and snowmobiling.
Snowmobile riders and freeriders from all over Russia come here during the five-month riding season.
The elevation changes are 600 meters, the slopes are from 1 to 3 km.
Mamay area has a rather mild climate, from +5 to -15С, the average wind speed is 2 m/s, avalanches are possible on the slope.
Mamay Mountain is located on the border of Irkutsk region and the Republic of Buryatia, 12 km from Lake Baikal, between the mountain rivers Vydrinnaya and Snezhnaya.
The nearest village of Vydrino is 10 km from Mamay Mountain , the distance from Irkutsk is 195 km, from Ulan-Ude is 275 km.

The area is known for its unique microclimate. Spring is always very snowy, precipitation occurs in a great amount. The thickness of the snow cover is from 3 to 5 meters.

This place is known as Disneyland for mountain snowmobile riders.

Davan is a mountain pass at the boundary of Buryatia and Irkutsk region in the northern part of the Baikal Mountains.

The height of the pass is 990 meters.

It is always snowy in spring here and precipitation occurs in a great amount

Depth of snow cover varies from 3 to 5 meters.

Length of downslopes achieves 7 kilometers.
